The needles have a shortened structure, bluish-green color of the needles and light brown cones of egg-shaped shape. The cones ripen once every three years, they are small in size, unlike the cones of the Lebanese cedar. Young trees grow faster and are more resistant to drought than older ones. He loves light very much, so a favorable environment is a climate where the sun is most of the year. Does not like too moist soils, including swampy, and limestones. It reacts normally to temperature changes and withstands frosts up to minus 20 degrees.

Atlas cedar forms the culture of parks and groves on the Black Sea coast. It is one of the main trees that grow on their territory. Thanks to this type of cedar, you can create the most unusual ensembles of landscape art. It was first mentioned in 1842.Atlas cedar has several types: pyramidal, weeping, columnar silver, golden and blue.

Himalayan cedar or Cedrus Deodara Loud is a green coniferous plant that does not change color 365 days a year. It belongs to the spruce family. This type of cedar reaches a very high height: about 50 meters in height and up to 3 meters in girth.

The trunk of the Himalayan cedar has a straight shape and is covered with dark brownish bark. In young animals, the branches hang down, and in older trees they are arranged horizontally and slightly raised. The crown has a pyramidal shape, and the needles are light gray and bluish, its needles up to 5 centimeters in size are collected in bundles on short branches. Cones measuring 12 by 6 centimeters of blue or brown-red color grow on the crown one piece, sometimes two. They look like an egg and have a multi-scaly woody structure. The oval-shaped seeds reach 17 millimeters in length and 7 millimeters in thickness. Himalayan cedar seeds are not eaten. Its wood has a persistent smell and belongs to especially valuable coniferous species.

Himalayan cedar is a long-lived tree. It grows quite fast in the Himalayas (more than 3000 meters above sea level), as well as in Afghanistan.

This type of cedar prefers shade, more humid air and soil. It is unpretentious, can grow on the territory where limestone is contained. At the same time, it is limestone that causes chlorosis, which infects cedars and makes them sick. If there is limestone in the soil, then the plant eventually turns yellow and grows more slowly.Himalayan cedar withstands severe frosts up to minus 25 degrees, so it can grow in mountainous conditions, where temperatures often drop sharply.

Himalayan cedar is a very beautiful tree that is artificially grown for decorative purposes when breeding parks in the southern part of Russia. It looks good in group compositions, being a bright spot because of its green needles. But the free-standing trees are also distinguished by their splendor. He even makes fences out of a number of cedars, giving them an original crown shape. It was attributed to culture in 1822.

Decorative forms of Himalayan cedar are divided into the following types: columnar, weeping, golden, silver, compact, powerful, thick-coniferous. So, thick coniferous has short and thick needles, in the upper part has a structure with a small number of short branches, and powerful – has long needles and a large tree in height.

Italian cedar or Pinus Pinea. It is also called a line. This is a tree of their coniferous family with a very resinous bark. It can grow up to 25 meters in height, it has a large and loose crown, gray or brown bark, which has a cracked appearance, the wood itself is of a rare white color.

Coniferous needles have a cylindrical shape, they are thin (up to 2 millimeters) and long (up to 20 millimeters). The needles are collected in a bundle of two needles. Italian cedar cones have a rounder shape than others and very large cones – up to 13 by 10 centimeters. On the branch, the cones are located mostly one at a time. The scales are thick enough and have the appearance of a pyramid of a dark brown shade. Italian cedar seeds reach up to 20 millimeters in length and 11 millimeters in thickness. They mature once every three years. They can be eaten. You will find them on European shelves under the brand of Italian pine nuts.

This type of cedar grows on the Mediterranean coast, on the island of Crete, the Canary Islands, in the northern part of the African continent. One of the largest forests of Italian cedar is located near the city of Ravenna. Large volumes of pine nuts are collected here every year. To obtain valuable wood and seeds, Italian cedar is artificially grown in the southern part of Tyrol. We have this kind of cedar growing on the territory of Transcaucasia and the south of Crimea.

Cedar stannik, or Pinus Cemmbra L is a pine species that grows in the northeast of Siberia, Sakhalin, and Amur. The Stlannik belongs to one of the types of Siberian cedar. They grow in the mountains at an altitude of no more than 750, and sometimes 500 meters above sea level. They live relatively short, only up to 6 years. The bark of the Korean cedar is brown with shades of red, and the needles are blue-blue with a length of needles up to 20 centimeters. It feels very soft.

The Korean cedar has a cone twice as large as the Siberian one, and a little longer. They differ in little. But the yields of cedar seeds from Korean cedar are smaller, and also less useful oil can be made from cones. This type of cedar easily tolerates severe frosts.

For the first time this type of cedar is mentioned in the chronicles, which tell about the journey of a detachment of Cossacks under the leadership of Vasily Poyarkov in 1644. It was they who found the Korean cedar, which was different from the Siberian one, and it was noticeable. And only two hundred years later this tree was recognized as a certain class of plants.
